One of the most expensive mistakes in the trucking and logistics industry isn’t fuel prices or maintenance costs it’s desperation.

When companies are under pressure to fill seats quickly, standards tend to slip. References aren’t checked thoroughly. Driving histories are brushed off. Excuses start sounding reasonable because the load needs to move now. Unfortunately, those shortcuts often cost far more in the long run.

Desperation-based hiring leads to missed deliveries, damaged equipment, lost contracts, insurance issues, and reputations that take years to rebuild. It also hurts professional drivers those who do everything right but get buried in a system flooded with unqualified applicants.

I learned this lesson the hard way as a logistics business owner. Hiring the wrong driver because I “needed someone fast” didn’t save time or money it created more problems than it solved. That experience became the foundation for my book, Do Not Hire Him, and ultimately the reason I built I Will Drive 4 U.
